2020 Struchkov Prize Announcement

XXIV Struchkov Competition (Struchkov Prize 2020)

The Struchkov Prize is annually awarded to young scientists for the best research work in the fields of chemistry, crystal chemistry, or material science. The eligible research should heavily rely on the application or results of the X-ray diffraction methods. The laureates will receive certificates and monetary prizes; in the recent years the annual prize fund totaled over $5,000. The prize is funded exclusively through annual charitable donations of individuals, non-profit organizations, and corporations. The prize fund is administered by the Struchkov Prize Association, a dedicated (501)(c)(3) charity organization.

Eligible participants should be under 36 years of age at the date of the submission deadline. Applications should be submitted in either English or Russian no later than September 15, 2020. One person can submit no more than one application. The applicant should have at least one paper on the topic of the work published or accepted for publication in a peer-reviewed journal. The laureates of the previous Struchkov competitions are not eligible for participation. The winners of the competition will be determined by a jury consisting of 8–12 structural scientists who are selected annually from among the leading scientists in the field. The jury will announce its decision by December 15, 2020.

Applicants for the 2020 competition should electronically submit the following:

  1. Participant’s information:
  2. Full Name;
  3. Title of the submitted research work;
  4. Date of birth;
  5. Education: college name, year of graduation
  6. Affiliation: name of the institution;
  7. Academic degree, current position;
  8. Address for correspondence by mail;
  9. Phone number;
  10. Email address;
  11. Summary of the work up to three pages in length (Times New Roman, 12 points, spacing 1.5). Summary should emphasize personal contribution of the applicant.
  12. A list of applicant’s publications on the topic of the presented research.
  13. Full texts of all publications listed in item 3 in the form of PDF files.

By submitting an application the applicant agrees to provide the submitted content to the organizing committee and members of the jury.

Items 1-3 should be submitted in the form of MS Word DOCX documents. All items should be archived into one file, named .ZIP, which should be sent as an attachment to  khrustalev-vn@rudn.ru.
